Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any special requirements for joining?

Our only requirement for joining the Short Pump MOMS Club® Chapter is that you live in one of the following zip codes: 23059, 23060 or 23233. This enables us to offer great activities close to where you live.

Is there a fee to join MOMS Club®?

Annual dues for the Short Pump Chapter are $25/year. Along with covering operation costs, your dues help run our many activities such as: holiday parties, craft projects, guest speakers, and our annual family picnic. They also help us support our neighbors in need through our various service projects.

Why do you collect annual membership dues?

Membership dues, at just over $2/month, cover our costs to MOMS Club International (our parent organization), club operations, and service projects. We are a nonprofit corporation and a 501 (C) (3) publicly-supported charity registered with the IRS.

Can I bring my kids to MOMS Club® activities and functions?

Children are always welcome at all MOMS Club® events. Although kids rarely accompany moms on Mom's Night Out (MNO) events, even there it is not uncommon for a mom or two to have a nursing baby along. We do have a separate children's room with free childcare available during our monthly Member Social meeting, but children are not required to go to the children's room, and many (especially younger ones) stay in the meeting room with the moms. We also offer activities geared more towards adults for moms whose children are at school/preschool, but younger siblings are always welcome.

My child has a disability. Can we still participate in MOMS Club®?

Children with disabilities or special needs are certainly welcome to become part of MOMS Club®. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your situation. Just help us know how to best help you!

What are the ages of children in the club?

We welcome kids of all ages, and we have a very large number of infants, toddlers and preschoolers. We do have some children in elementary school, and offer afternoon activities as well as over school holidays/breaks and the summer.

I am a first time mom expecting a baby. Can I join?

Absolutely! We welcome expecting mothers with open arms. Our group is a wonderful support network, providing everything from baby product recommendations to birth stories.

How often do you meet?

Our monthly calendar provides options for every schedule. With 2-4 events per week, you can choose which activities interest you and your child(ren) and come as often or as little as you would like.

Do you have attendance requirements?

Nope! Come as often or as little as you please.

I think MOMS Club® might be for me, but I want to be sure. Is there a way for me to check out your group before I actually decide to join and pay my dues?

Absolutely! Prospective members may attend a group meeting/event before joining. After that, you can join by completing a liability form and paying your $25 yearly dues.

If I become a member, how will I know what is going on?

As a member, you will receive a monthly newsletter via e-mail with pictures, community events, the club calendar, announcements, and anything else that gets put in there! We also include our monthly activities on our private Facebook member page and post reminders of upcoming events. You are also able to post questions, get support and share the ups and downs of mothering outside of events.

Is MOMS Club® a religious or political organization?

No. MOMS Club® welcomes moms of all religious, ethnic, and political backgrounds and views. We are not affiliated with any religious sect or denomination. We do currently hold our monthly meetings and occasionally other activities at a local church in Glen Allen, which allows us the use of their meeting space as a community organization. However, neither the Short Pump Chapter nor International MOMS Club® endorses or is affiliated with any particular religion.

I think MOMS Club® sounds great, but I don't live in the zip codes your chapter serves. What should I do?

If you are not within the geographic boundaries of the MOMS Club® of Short Pump Chapter, you can check for a MOMS Club® chapter in your area from the International MOMS Club® Chapter Page. If no chapter exists in your area, you can be a chapter founder and start your own! Our chapter will be happy to help and provide guidance, and you will get lots of support and assistance from the regional and national levels of MOMS Club® as well.
