The Detroit Pistons extended their winning streak to nine games with a 114-105 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night, marking their best run since the 2007-08 season.
Despite being without several key players—including Cade Cunningham (hip), Jalen Duren (ankle), Tobias Harris (ankle) and Ausar Thompson (ankle)—the team showed resilience.
Guard Daniss Jenkins stepped up big time: he knocked down a buzzer-beating 3-pointer at the end of the third quarter to pull the team within striking range, then helped lead them to dominance in the fourth quarter.
The Pistons held the 76ers to just 15 points in the final quarter, erasing a 12-point deficit early in the period. Head coach J B Bickerstaff praised the grit of his squad:
“We’ve got a bunch of nasty dogs in that locker room … They like when it gets messy and ugly.”
Looking ahead, Detroit will aim to extend this streak even further as they host the Indiana Pacers in their next contest.
“I’m not surprised. They’ve got a nastiness to them. … They like it when it gets thick. They like it when it gets messy and ugly. We like to take people there. We like to push people’s buttons and see how they respond.”
Daniss Jenkins:“I’m not gonna lie. I can’t tell you my sauce (secret), but I’ve really been shooting that shot. We are all nasty dogs, nasty boys.”
