First Engineering Hall Auditorium, Gangneung-Wonju National University, Gangneung, South Korea
CU Mart. The building behind CU Mart is the First Engineering Hall.
Parking is free at the venue.
The easiest way to reach the venue from Gangneung KTX Station or the Gangneung Intercity Bus Terminal is as follows: Take a taxi and tell the driver to go to Gangneung-Wonju National University. Inform the driver that the drop-off point is the CU Mart on campus. Please pronounce CU as 'see you'. The driver will surely understand this much English. In front of CU Mart, you will find a large welcoming sign.
The taxi fare is approximately 7 USD from the KTX station and 6 USD from the Intercity Bus Terminal.
International Card Compatibility: Most credit card terminals (such as T-Money, Cashbee, etc.) installed in Korean taxis officially support payments from major international card brands, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express (AMEX).
If you use a taxi-hailing app like 'Kakao T,' you can register your internationally issued MasterCard as a payment method within the app and use it for automatic payments.
Security at the issuing bank: Occasionally, the foreign bank that issued the card may block a payment if it detects sudden overseas usage. To be safe, it is advisable to carry a small amount of Korean won (KRW) in cash as a backup.
[Reservation Sites]
These are the official English reservation sites for major rental car companies, offering direct pickup from KTX Gangneung Station. You can make a reservation by selecting the "Gangneung KTX" branch on these sites.

[Essential Supplies for Picking Up a Car]
Even if you have successfully made an online reservation overseas, your rental will be refused unless you present the following documents when picking up your vehicle at the local branch near Gangneung Station. Please be sure to bring these documents with you.
- IDP - International Driving Permit: You cannot drive abroad using only your home country’s driver’s license; an International Driving Permit is required.
- Original driver's license from your home country. You must bring the original license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP).
- Passport: The original passport is required to verify the identity of the individual who made the reservation.
- The credit card in your name that was used to make the reservation.
- On-site demand for physical credit cards used in online reservations, specifically for deposit payments and identification purposes.
[Additional Information]
Car-sharing: Gangneung Station also has part-time driverless car rental services, such as Socar or Greencar. However, since most of these services require identity authentication through a Korean driver's license, Korean mobile phone number, and domestic residence card, short-term travelers may find it difficult to sign up and use.
Gangneung Intercity Bus Terminal and Gangneung Express Bus Terminal are located adjacent to each other.
Lotte Rent-A-Car does not have an official branch or office near the Gangneung Bus Terminal. However, it operates a **'Gangneung Bus Terminal Pick-up Zone'**, allowing customers to conveniently pick up and return vehicles.
SK Rent-A-Car's official Gangneung Branch is located near Gangneung KTX Station, which is slightly farther from the Gangneung Bus Terminal.
The city bus terminal will support prepaid transportation cards, such as Korean postpaid transportation cards and Tmoney. However, this feature is not compatible with international credit cards.
[Method I]
Purchase and recharge prepaid transportation cards (T-money).
Step 1: Purchase a T-money card.
Where to buy: Convenience stores in Gangneung City that display the 'Tmoney' logo, including GS25, CU, 7-Eleven, and others.
Payment: You can purchase an empty card (approximately ₩3,000 to ₩4,000) using your international MasterCard. (Prices and payment options may vary by store.)
Step 2: Charge the card. This is the most important step.
You must load it with Korean won (KRW) in cash. Simply tell the convenience store staff to "charge your T-money card" and hand them the cash.
Step 3: Use your Tmoney card by tapping it on the terminal when you board the bus. When you get off, tap your Tmoney card on the device again to receive a transfer discount.
[Method II]
The Gangneung City government operates a tourist app that enables payment for buses, taxis, and KTX trains through a single integrated system. It is recommended to install the app and register your card before traveling. Please note that most convenience stores and subway station charging devices do not accept foreign credit cards for payment.
