If you're a creative designer without technical expertise in HTML, CSS, or Shopify Liquid but still want to create eye-catching sections for your Shopify store, this guide is perfect for you. We'll walk you through how to design stunning, responsive Shopify templates using Canva and the Canvify app, which allows you to seamlessly import your Canva creations into Shopify.
Design your section in Canva.
Export the design and import it into your Shopify store.
Customize your Shopify page using the Canvify app.
All of this is done without writing a single line of code—just your creativity in Canva!
Start by installing the Canvify app from the Shopify app store.
Once installed, you’ll gain access to a wide range of templates. These are pre-built in Canva, and you can edit them to fit your needs.
In the Canvify app, head over to the Templates section.
Browse through the templates, choose one you like, and open it in a new tab.
Preview both the desktop and mobile versions to ensure the template is fully responsive.
Log into Canva with your Google account (a free account works just fine).
Click "Use Template" to start editing the design.
Customize the template by:
Replacing images: Upload your own by using the Uploads tab in Canva.
Editing text and animations: Click on the elements you want to modify.
Make the design your own by adding your branding elements.
After finalizing your design, click "Publish Website" in Canva.
Ensure that Search Engine Visibility is turned off so the Canva URL doesn’t get indexed (you want Shopify to be indexed instead).
Copy the published URL once ready.
Return to the Canvify app in Shopify and navigate to the Pages section.
Click "Import New Page," paste the Canva URL, and give the page a name. You can also decide to hide the header and footer or add custom CSS if needed.
Click "Import Page" to add your Canva design to your Shopify store as a new page.
To make your design interactive, follow these steps:
In Canva, click on any buttons or social media icons.
Use the shortcut Command + K (Mac) or Control + K (Windows) to add a link.
Once the links are added, re-publish the Canva template.
After updating your Canva design, go back to the Canvify app in Shopify.
Click "Update Page" to sync the latest version of your design.
The updated design, including functional buttons and linked social media icons, will now appear on your Shopify page.
If you want to use your Canva design as your homepage:
In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes > Customize.
In the theme editor, hide the default homepage sections, click "Add Section," and select "Page."
Choose the imported page and click "Save."
Updating your Shopify page is easy:
Make changes in Canva.
Re-publish the design.
In the Canvify app, click "Update Page" in Shopify to reflect the new changes immediately.
With Canva and Canvify, designing beautiful Shopify pages is a breeze. You don’t need coding skills or Shopify Liquid knowledge—just design in Canva, import it, and watch your Shopify store come to life!
