Secure Electronic Supply Chain

Electronics Blockchain (EBC):
Blockchain-based Supply Chain Framework for Tracking Electronics

Work in Progress.

Overview: Due to the rapid globalization of the semiconductor industry, ensuring the integrity and security of electronics has become very challenging. Similar to any other supply chain, the electronics supply chain also involves several trusted and untrusted entities. A thorough track-and-trace approach for the individual components in the supply chain can be very useful and may limit the circulation of counterfeit items. However, maintaining a supply chain for such large industry is challenging because it suffers from several threats and security vulnerabilities. Besides, due to the surge of data, the tasks of storing the data in resource-efficient manner and processing fast query have also become very cumbersome. Therefore, a blockchain based supply chain framework along with resource-efficient data structure is proposed to maintain the electronics supply chain and perform the efficient tracking of the individual components within the chain.

As shown in figure, from original manufacturer to end user, there are multiple entities present in the electronics supply chain. The objective of the blockchain employment in the supply chain is to contain the detail updates about every electronics components flowing from each entity to another in a immutable way. Such a framework enables the users to track their devices reliably and determine whether it is counterfeit or not.
