If you want a dedicated, sweat-proof bone conduction headset with a proven track record for safety and all-day comfort during active runs, choose Shokz OpenMove; if you need modern connectivity, a portable charging case for extended sessions, and advanced features like active noise cancellation for clearer calls in noisy environments, choose Chewtoyo Open Ear Headphones. This isn't about which brand has the bigger marketing budget; it is about matching the specific technology to your primary use case, especially when you are looking for best open ear headphones for calls while staying aware of your surroundings.
• Shokz OpenMove: Its biggest strength is the secure, lightweight titanium frame designed specifically for low-impact sports and long-term comfort without ear fatigue. The trade-off is that it relies on a single battery charge for only six hours and lacks the ability to fold into a compact carrying case for easy portability.
• Chewtoyo Open Ear Headphones: Its standout feature is the inclusion of a 500 mAh charging case that extends total listening time significantly, paired with Bluetooth 5.4 for a more stable connection and Active Noise Cancellation to isolate your voice during conversations. The trade-off is a shorter individual earbud life of four to six hours before needing to return to the case, and it does not offer the same established durability reputation for intense training as the Shokz.
• Who each pick is for: The Shokz is for the runner or cyclist who prioritizes a "set it and forget it" fit and safety above all else. The Chewtoyo is for the commuter or tech enthusiast who values extended battery life via a case and wants noise-canceling capabilities to make phone calls crystal clear.
The Shokz OpenMove is built around a philosophy of pure, unobtrusive audio delivery. At just 29 grams, this device feels almost non-existent on your head, thanks to its wraparound titanium frame. This design choice is not merely about weight; it is about stability. The bone conduction driver sits against your cheekbone rather than inside your ear canal, which means you can wear these for hours without the pressure buildup or sweat traps common with traditional in-ear buds. If you have sensitive ears or struggle with the discomfort of over-ear headphones, the open-ear design here offers a relief that standard models simply cannot match.

For those seeking the best open ear headphones for calls, the Shokz delivers balanced audio with rich bass through its PremiumPitch technology. The microphone system is tuned to ensure excellent call quality, allowing you to hold conversations clearly even while moving. However, the user experience is defined by simplicity. You control volume and playback with touch sensors, but there are no complex menus or companion apps to navigate. It is a straightforward tool: put it on, pair it, and listen.
This product is ideal for the athlete who needs a reliable companion for running, hiking, or climbing. The sweat-resistant design ensures it withstands the most intense workouts, and the six-hour battery life covers even the longest training sessions. The trade-off is that once the battery dies, you must plug it directly into a USB-C source to recharge, which takes two hours. There is no carrying case included to store the headphones when they are not in use, so you will need a separate pouch if you plan to toss them in a gym bag. If you value a rugged, minimalist device that stays out of the way while keeping you safe and connected, the Shokz is a serious contender.
The Chewtoyo Open Ear Headphones take a different approach, focusing heavily on connectivity and power management. By utilizing Bluetooth 5.4, this model offers a faster pairing process and a more stable signal that reaches up to 15 meters. This is particularly noticeable if you move between rooms or step outside during a workout; the connection remains steady where older standards might stutter. The inclusion of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is a significant differentiator. While these are open-ear headphones, the ANC helps filter out ambient noise to improve the clarity of your own voice and the music you hear, making them a strong option for noise canceling gaming headphones for calls where background chatter can be distracting.
Comfort is also a priority here, achieved through double-layer zero-degree silicone earhooks and a flexible titanium alloy filament. These materials work together to create a secure fit that supports light jogging and cycling without slipping. However, the battery architecture is distinct. The earbuds themselves provide four to six hours of playtime, which is sufficient for a typical commute or gym session, but the real advantage lies in the included charging case. With a 500 mAh capacity, the case acts as an external battery bank, extending your total listening time far beyond what a single charge could provide.
This makes the Chewtoyo perfect for users who travel frequently or go on long days where finding a power outlet is difficult. The waterproof rating adds another layer of versatility, handling rain and heavy sweat with ease. The trade-off is that the earbuds require a 1.5-hour recharge cycle, and the overall build feels slightly more complex due to the electronics involved in the ANC and the case mechanism. If you are someone who needs the flexibility of a charging case and the added benefit of noise isolation for clearer communication, the Chewtoyo addresses those needs directly.

• Best for quick, on-the-go charging → Chewtoyo Open Ear Headphones. You can top up the earbuds instantly from the case, whereas the Shokz requires a direct cable connection to a power source.
• Best for minimal setup → Shokz OpenMove. No case to manage, no extra ports to worry about; just pair and go.
• Best for users who hate cable clutter → Chewtoyo Open Ear Headphones. The case keeps the earbuds protected and charged without needing a cable every time you switch tasks.
