Scribblings of a Bengali Engineer
About me
I am a material scientist, computational scientist, and mathematician. Together, they describe an engineer. I work in the field of material science with an emphasis on nano-scale modeling. I am interested in engineering materials for specific purposes by studying nano-scale behavior. I recently completed my Ph.D. in Computational Mechanics in the Mechanics, Materials, and Computing group in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering under Kaushik Dayal. I am currently a PostDoc at the University of Minnesota in the lab of Dick James.
Like most Bangali's I didn't learn anything in school. I spent most of my time admiring my surroundings, drinking lots of "cha" (tea), arguing with friends, and solving mathematics and physics problems which my friends found challenging. Like a typical Bangali, I love art, music, food, rosogolla with misti-doi, physics, and mathematics.
This website is currently serving as both a personal and semi-professional website. I got the "never the twain shall meet" memo a bit late, so please indulge a lazy Bangali and his fantasies of being the personification of the worst possible oxymoron; funny and serious.
