First of its kind, pioneering training program that explores the environmental impact of the shoes we wear, while learning a new skillset of footwear deconstruction. This intensive 17 week program covered all aspects of footwear design, manufacturing, policy and local implementation of discovering the value chain and end markets of waste from shoes. The cohort heard from industry experts, local waste warriors, participated in field trips to local recycling organizations, and the chemical science of footwear - supported by the American Chemical Society. The course was Co-Facilitated by, Ariel Doty of Black Sustainability Inc.
