If you want a smoother ride that actively absorbs road shocks and saves your truck bed space, choose Shocker Hitch Quick Air® 5th; if you need a heavy-duty, permanent mounting solution for a dedicated work truck where flat loading is your top priority, choose Estink Gooseneck Hitch.
• Shocker Hitch Quick Air® 5th: Its biggest strength is the integrated air ride system that filters jerks and tugs for a significantly smoother tow; its trade-off is the higher complexity of installation and the need to swap out your existing pin box entirely. This pick is for owners who prioritize ride comfort and cargo versatility in their pickup bed.
• Estink Gooseneck Hitch: Its biggest strength is the robust, frame-mounted design with a turnover ball that leaves the bed floor perfectly flat for hauling lumber or tools; its trade-off is the rigid connection that transfers more vibration directly to the chassis compared to an air-suspended setup. This pick is for fleet managers or individuals who need a permanent, high-capacity hauler for a 2500/3500 truck.
The Shocker Hitch Quick Air® 5th is not just a connector; it is a complete conversion kit designed to transform how a fifth-wheel trailer interacts with a pickup truck. The core value proposition here is the "Air Ride" technology. Unlike standard hitches that rely on steel-on-steel contact, this system utilizes an air spring bag positioned behind the gooseneck hitch. This component acts as a cushion, directing tow resistance through the air rather than the metal frame. When you hit a bump, the air bag compresses to absorb the shock, filtering out the jerks, tugs, and sways that usually plague long-distance towing. This is particularly critical for protecting the driveline of the tow vehicle and preventing stress fractures in the camper trailer frame and welds.
This product is engineered for specific compatibility, targeting users with Lippert pin boxes (models 1716, 1116, 0115) and FabEx series (500, 503, 520, 530, 560). If your camper uses one of these compatible pin boxes, the kit replaces your factory unit with a new Quick Air® Gooseneck pin box and installs a 3-inch forward auto-latching Demco coupler. This 3-inch offset extension is a game-changer for trucks with shorter beds, including 5-foot-7-inch models, by ensuring sufficient clearance between the cab and the trailer during turns. You do not need to drill into your frame or perform major welding; the system relies on existing bolt patterns for the pin box replacement, making the conversion process relatively streamlined once you have the right components.
Who should buy this? You are the ideal candidate if you tow a fifth-wheel trailer frequently and find the current ride harsh or damaging to your gear. The ability to fine-tune air pressure means you can adjust the ride quality based on whether your load is heavy or light. Heavier loads get more air pressure for stability, while lighter loads reduce pressure for a softer feel. Furthermore, converting to this gooseneck style frees up your entire truck bed from the bulky slider mechanism required for traditional fifth-wheel towing. If you want to reclaim that space for other gear while maintaining a safe, comfortable tow for electric vehicles or gas trucks alike, this is the path forward. Skip this if you do not own a compatible pin box or if you prefer a permanent, non-removable hitch that stays bolted to the frame without needing a separate pin box swap.

The Estink Gooseneck Hitch takes a fundamentally different approach, focusing on structural integrity and utility rather than ride comfort. Designed specifically for 2500 and 3500 trucks from 2019 through 2026, this unit mounts directly to the truck's frame using existing chassis holes. This eliminates the need for drilling or welding, which is a significant advantage for owners who want to maintain their vehicle's warranty or resale value while adding towing capacity. The construction is built from powder-coated alloy steel, a finish chosen specifically to resist road salt, gravel spray, and chipping. This durability ensures the hitch can withstand harsh seasonal conditions without degrading, providing a reliable connection point year after year.
The standout feature of the Estink system is the turnover ball mechanism. When you are not towing, the ball folds down into a pocket within the hitch base. This creates a completely flat loading surface across the truck bed. Unlike many gooseneck hitches that leave a raised pedestal or obstruct the floor even when stowed, this design allows you to lay down plywood, secure tool chests, or stack cargo boxes without obstruction. For someone who needs to haul building materials or large equipment alongside their trailer, this flat-floor capability is invaluable. The design routes the towing load through the truck frame rather than the bed floor, mimicking the tracking stability of a fifth-wheel trailer at highway speeds while offering the flexibility of a gooseneck setup.
Who should buy this? You are the target user if you own a heavy-duty 2500 or 3500 truck and need a permanent, rugged solution for serious hauling. This hitch excels in scenarios where the truck serves dual purposes: a workhorse for daily cargo transport and a towing rig for trailers. If your priority is maximizing the utility of your bed space and having a hitch that feels like an inseparable part of the chassis, this is the choice. It is also ideal for those who want a straightforward installation that relies on factory points. However, skip this if you are looking for a conversion kit for a fifth-wheel camper or if you require a removable hitch that doesn't stay fixed to the frame. The rigid nature of the frame mount means you will feel more road feedback compared to an air-suspended alternative, so if ride softness is your primary concern, this might not be the best fit.
• Best for ride smoothness → Shocker Hitch Quick Air® 5th: The air spring bag actively dampens road imperfections, reducing wear on both the truck and the trailer.
• Best for flat bed utility → Estink Gooseneck Hitch: The turnover ball folds away completely, creating a level floor for hauling tools, lumber, or cargo boxes.
• Best for short-bed clearance → Shocker Hitch Quick Air® 5th: The 3-inch offset extension works effectively on beds as short as 5'7", preventing cab interference.
• Best for heavy-duty frame transfer → Estink Gooseneck Hitch: Load routing through the chassis provides steady tracking and robust support for 2500/3500 platforms.
• Best for customization → Shocker Hitch Quick Air® 5th: Adjustable air pressure allows you to fine-tune load control and ride comfort based on weight distribution.
• Best for permanent work setups → Estink Gooseneck Hitch: Powder-coated alloy steel and frame-mount design offer a durable, low-maintenance solution for daily drivers.
• Best for conversion flexibility → Shocker Hitch Quick Air® 5th: Converts existing fifth-wheel setups to gooseneck without modifying the truck frame itself.
• Best for winter durability → Estink Gooseneck Hitch: Specified powder coating resists salt and gravel damage in harsh climates.
In my opinion, the Shocker Hitch Quick Air® 5th is the superior choice for most recreational and mixed-use towing scenarios because it addresses the physical toll of towing. The air ride system is not a luxury; it is a necessity for protecting expensive gear and reducing driver fatigue over long distances. While the Estink offers excellent utility for flat-bed loading, the lack of suspension in that design means every pothole is felt by the cargo and the driver. I would buy the Shocker Hitch for my own vehicle if I were towing a fifth-wheel camper, especially for electric vehicles where minimizing mechanical stress is crucial. However, if I were running a commercial fleet of 2500 trucks strictly for hauling and needed maximum bed utility, I would switch to the Estink. For the average buyer seeking a balance of performance and protection, the Shocker system wins on engineering and ride quality.
