Porbandar Port is an all-weather, direct berthing port located on the western coast of Gujarat, India, facing the Arabian Sea. It is situated at latitude 21.6247° N and longitude 69.5962° E.
Port Facilities:
Berths: The port offers direct berthing facilities for vessels up to 50,000 DWT.
Jetty: It has a single jetty measuring 210 meters in length with a depth of 6 meters, primarily handling fishery products, as well as general cargo like cement, salt, and timber.
Harbor Characteristics:
Anchorage: The anchorage area is approximately 2 kilometers offshore, with a depth of 9.5 meters and good holding ground.
Breakwater: The port is protected by an "S" shaped breakwater, 2,650 meters in length, with sheltered berths on the eastern side.
Monsoon Operations: Anchorage operations are suspended during the monsoon season due to rough weather conditions.
Port Usage:
Porbandar Port primarily handles fishery products but also accommodates cargo such as cement, salt, and timber. The annual cargo traffic is approximately 0.5 million metric tons.
