This project is the first in my UI class at University of Cincinnati in Fall'22.
The idea of the project was to design a smart object. I chose smart shopping cart and did some designs which I felt would be things I'd like to see in real life in case there is a shopping cart. Please note the thing I made wasn't designed to be similar to the shopping cart. But the functionality I put in is the equivalent of what I'd like to see in one in case it is developed.
Here's some design ideas and thoughts I had for the smart cart
Since I started working on the smart fridge that's why I came up with the idea for the slots in the fridge. Which I later thought of being different categories of products in a cart.
The shopping cart has different slots for putting food items
It has a stopwatch so you can track how long you've been shopping for
It has a map of the area so that if you can't find an item it can tell you where it is
How it works
I thought of a couple of things while designers the smart cart.
I'd like to be able to scan the item I want and then just the cart register what kind of item it is. -> So to simulate that I created 4 buckets where you can drag and drop the particular food item and it is added as part of that category
I'd like to be able to just give a list of the things I wanna buy and the shopping cart finds them on a map for the store and then I go there pick em up. Scan them and then it just puts them on my bill
I'd like to generate a copy of the bill and download it and keep it on my phone.
I'd also like to be able to find a particular item on the list of all item. The shopping cart points me to it and then I go and pick it up and buy it.
These are the 4 basic scenarios I thought of while implementing the system.
