My name is Shipu Debnath, and I am passionate about exploring the relationship between people and the environment. For more than eight years, I have pursued this purpose across the fields of urban planning, geography, and climate studies. From my first academic projects in Dhaka City to my current role as a Teaching Assistant at Texas Tech University, I have been driven by the challenge of transforming complex geospatial data into actionable insights for resilience and sustainable development. I welcome challenging problems and find fulfillment in discovering innovative, data-driven solutions.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning from Jahangirnagar University, where I studied how ride-sharing platforms shaped urban mobility in Dhaka. That experience sparked my commitment to better understanding how technology and planning can improve the quality of urban life.
Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s in Geography and Environment at Texas Tech University (Expected May 2026), where I also earned a Graduate Certificate in GIS. My thesis—Mapping Global Wind Direction Variability (1980–2024) Using ERA5 Data—reflects my interest in climate resilience and large-scale geospatial modeling.
Alongside my studies, I have gained practical experience as a Research Assistant at DM Watch Ltd., where I worked with housing datasets and policy analysis, and as an Intern with Dhaka South City Corporation, where I used GIS tools to support community-focused planning initiatives.
