I am a cognitive neuroscientist working as a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Marina Bedny's Neuroplasticity & Development Lab in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences at Johns Hopkins University.
I am interested in understanding how experience shapes cognitive functions and their implementation in the brain. I am currently approaching this question by studying how the cortex is functionally reorganized in individuals who are totally blind. I am investigating how deafferented visual cortices are repurposed for novel, higher-cognitive functions in congenital blindness and potential mechanisms for this plasticity.
I received my PhD in October 2018 with Dr. Marina Bedny at Johns Hopkins University. In my PhD work, I studied how numerical thinking and its neural basis is modified in blind individuals.
