表面弾性波(SAW)とは、物質の表面近傍を伝わる音波の一種です。圧電基板においては、SAWは電位の変動を伴って伝搬します。本研究では、このSAWによって生じる電位の「波」に単一電子を乗せ、電子を移送する技術を活用します。この手法の利点は、高効率(> 99%)な単一電子源、及び単一電子検出器が既に確立されている点にあります。これにより、個々の飛行電子の振る舞いを一つ一つ捉えながら、その量子力学的な性質を詳細に調べることが可能になります。現在、SAWによって伝搬される飛行電子のダイナミクスを研究しており、将来的には、これを利用した量子回路の実現を目指しています。
