ESC Board

The idea for an ESC Board was proposed in 2021 when ESC was dissolved as a member's organisation and recreated as a Federation of national groups. The inaugral Board meeting was held in April 2022.

 ESC Board Structure

The ESC Board is comprised of one representative from each sizeable national shintaido organisation within Europe. Currently these are France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. Smaller organisations in other countries are each represented by one of these members.

The Board meets online once every couple of months. It has no formal Chair, but instead operates a rotating-Chair system. Each of the four reps takes it in turn to chair each meeting. Minutes are taken and distributed by the rep due to chair the following meeting. The reps are each elected by their own national organisations. It is the responsibility of those groups to ensure they are represented on the Board. It is the responsibility of the Board to ensure decisions are communicated to nationals groups (and to the instructors they represent) via the national reps.

Since the national groups vary widely in size the Board also operates a system of unanimous agreement. All decisions need to be unanimously agreed by each of the four national reps to pass.
