Yui-me Doji

"Yui-me Doji" is a sculpture that depicts only connected limbs, with no torso present. Kaneko, inspired by the limbs depicted in Shunga, eliminates the concept of a torso or center, expressing the free intertwining of limbs in space. This piece draws inspiration from the "Eight Attendants" statues created by the Kamakura period sculptor Unkei, and is crafted as a symbol of "relationships" using a Buddhist approach.
