Colors and Clouds Series:
Inspired by the hands and feet depicted in shunga, the Colors and Clouds series treats the process of sensing human presence within randomly placed colors and discovering hands and feet as metaphors of interconnectedness (encompassing people, objects, and phenomena) as the artwork itself.
The artist employs perceptual biases—assumptions and misperceptions—as expressive techniques, and the painting hand (and sometimes foot) functions as a metaphor and device of interconnectedness. By layering limbs over spontaneous colors and lines, the intertwining forms gradually shape the uncertainty and continually changing images of reality we perceive as the world into the painting.
No final form is predetermined; the artist paints so that the images discovered through the process, together with the artist themself, are incorporated as parts of the interconnected whole. Through this process the work examines how interconnectedness generates and shapes the world.
