Gyokugan Technique

"Gaze" utilizes the technique of "gyokugan," commonly employed in Buddhist sculptures from the Kamakura period. Gyokugan involves embedding crystal or glass eyeballs with painted irises into the sculpture's sockets from the inside, a unique Japanese technique.
