This Cancellation Policy applies to all bookings for the kkNozawa Hospitality Shin-Etsu Trail accommodation, meals, and shuttle package, including any additional services such as guided hiking arrangements.
General Cancellation Terms
Cancellations must be made in writing by email and are only considered effective once confirmed by kkNozawa Hospitality.
Standard Cancellation Charges
The following cancellation fees apply based on the date the cancellation request is received:
10% deposit is non-refundable
14 days from booking start date: 90% refundable
Shuttle and Guide Services
Shuttle operations and any arranged third-party guide services are subject to advance planning and limited availability.
Where shuttle transport or guide services have been specifically reserved, pre-booked, or incurred non-recoverable costs on behalf of the guest, these costs may be charged in full in addition to the standard cancellation fees.
Weather and Safety Conditions
Nozawa Hospitality operates in a mountain environment where weather and natural conditions may affect operations.
If Nozawa Hospitality cancels services due to safety concerns, government restrictions, or circumstances beyond its reasonable control, guests will be offered one of the following options:
A full or partial refund (depending on services already used or incurred costs), or
A credit for future use, subject to availability
Travel Insurance
Guests are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance that covers cancellation, trip interruption, medical expenses, and outdoor activities such as hiking in mountain environments.
Nozawa Hospitality is not responsible for any costs incurred due to lack of insurance coverage.
This package does not include any form of insurance.
Amendments
Changes to bookings are subject to availability and may incur additional charges depending on timing and operational constraints.
Each day starts at approximately 6am. This will vary depending on the difficulty of the days hike and the month you book. After booking, our staff will provide you with a detailed itinerary.
Guests are strongly advised to carry:
First aid kit
Bear bell
Waterproof rain gear
Emergency beacon, satellite phone or equivalent emergency communication device
Sufficient water and food
Camera

Yes, upon request we can provide you with an experienced, local guide to support your hike. Local guides can speak Japanese and English. The guided experience is subject to availability and is at an additional fee.
Travel insurance is not included in the plan. We strongly recommend that you purchase health and travel insurance before your arrival.
We are unable to provide a refund for any injury obtained while hiking the trail.
You must be physically fit and adequately trained for multi-day mountain hiking. The weather is variable in the mountains, so experience walking in a variety of conditions is recommended.
Breakfast and lunch are Japanese bento-style meals. We will provide you with a bento boxes in the morning so you can eat them on mountain.
We are able to accomodate most dietary and allergy requests with advance notice. When making your reservation, please let our team know about any desired adjustments.
