The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance, or SNAP, is a key benefits program that serves more than 300,000 people in the Kansas City Metro alone.
Now, the government shutdown is threatening to temporarily suspend benefits, leaving everyone who relies on the program wondering where they can turn to for food.
Food banks and pantries across the Metro are NOT EQUIPPED to handle this certain tsunami of increased need. There is no state or local government entity who can cover for this problem.
The citizens from all over Kansas City and surrounding area need to step up like never before to help chip in and donate food or money to the food pantries in our city. Every food organization is in desperate need of help!
The Interfaith Coalition for the Unhoused is working to create awareness and drive action among all the churches and religious organizations throughout Kansas City to get involved!
WHO NEEDS HELP? EVERYONE!
If you are aware of a food pantry already, donate to them!
However, if you are not sure who to donate to, we have compiled a short list of food pantries and other partners who, together, cover the Metro areas, that you can help.
Do a food drive! Donate food items, Donate financially and Volunteer eagerly to help meet this overwhelming need!

Catholic Charities of Kansas City - St Joseph
At the Serve & Lift Center at Catholic Charities, families may choose their own food from available nutritious selections, and meet their own taste preferences, cultural dishes, and better manage chronic medical conditions that respond to a particular diet. This gift is truly transformative to our agency and those we serve.
By lifting people in need to the dignity of self-reliance, and encouraging others to help, our communities will become one human family.
