SHINE was founded in 2014 as a subgroup of Southern Ohio Homeschoolers. Started as a small co-op, SHINE now serves 40+ families primarily as a support group.
SHINE stands for Schooling at Home to Inspire, Nurture and Equip and that is our mission.
SHINE is a small, private group of Christian homeschool families committed to maintaining educational freedom and encouraging educational excellence. We want to help encourage local homeschool families on their homeschool journey by connecting them with a community of Christian homeschoolers. When you join SHINE, you are not alone on this homeschooling journey, we want to homeschool alongside you whether you are starting from the beginning, or are pulling a child out of public school half way through. You will have a community of believers in your corner encouraging you, praying with you, and reminding you that you can homeschool your child!
SHINE is not a legal defense organization and any advice or information from us is opinion formed from research and is not meant to be substitute for competent legal advice. We strongly encourage each member family to join the Home School Legal Defense Association or a state legal defense organization.
Our leadership team organizes the running of SHINE homeschool and ensures there are at least 4 events planned a year. The leadership team takes care of finances, runs co-op classes, receives membership forms, oversees the Facebook group, website, handbook, and master calendar.

As a member of SHINE you:
Recognize that SHINE homeschool group is a ministry of Sunshine Church of Christ.
While we do not require members to sign a statement of faith, we do ask that members recognize that this is a community of Christian believers who believe that the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God and support Biblical marriage as being between one man and one woman.
Agree to conduct yourself and be responsible for the behavior of your children at SHINE-sponsored events in a manner that will reflect well on the church and the ministry of SHINE (i.e.: no foul language, inappropriate talk, behavior, etc)
Recognize that conduct that brings dishonor to the ministry of SHINE may be brought to the attention of the board and lead to dismissal from the group.
