Exploring photoreceptors and enzyme regulation.
Key words: Membrane Proteins, Rhodopsins, ABC transporters, Enzymes
Dr. Cho is a membrane protein biochemist focusing on light-driven energy conversion, photoreceptor signalling, and protein–protein interaction.
He received his B.S. in Marine Biotechnology and Ph.D. in Life Science from Sogang University, where he investigated the molecular mechanisms of heliorhodopsins and their regulatory effects on metabolic enzymes and ABC transporters.
His research aims to elucidate how light-responsive membrane proteins modulate cellular physiology, and to develop synthetic biology tools that harness light-dependent protein regulation. His long-term goal is to unveil the biochemical and structural principles underlying light-regulated membrane systems.
