SHIELD ONE: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
SHIELD ONE: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
ℹ️ What is Shield One? Shield One is your ultimate defense against unwanted calls. It stops Robocalls, Neighbor Spoofing, International Spam, and Unknown Callers dead in their tracks.
⚙️ How does it work? Shield One does not use shared online databases (which can threaten your privacy). Instead, it applies strict, logic-based filters directly on your device.
⚙️ Technical Troubleshooting
"I installed the app, but spam calls are still getting through. Why?" Shield One is designed to work silently without draining your battery. However, modern versions of Android (and some manufacturers) have aggressive "Battery Saver" systems that can "put the app to sleep," preventing it from checking incoming calls in time.
If you are receiving calls that should be blocked, please follow these steps:
PHASE 1: BASIC CHECKS (For all phones)
Check Battery Priority The system must not restrict the app.
Go to Settings > Apps > Shield One > Battery.
Select "Unrestricted" (or "No restrictions").
Disable "Pause app activity" (Android 12+) If you don't open the app manually for a long time, Android might remove its permissions.
Go to Settings > Apps > Shield One.
Look for "Pause app activity if unused" (or "Remove permissions and free up space").
TURN OFF this switch (it must be gray).
Conflict with Google Phone App (Critical) If you use the default Google "Phone" app (blue icon), its internal filter might bypass Shield One.
Open the Phone app.
Tap the 3 dots (top right) > Settings > Caller ID & Spam.
TURN OFF all options here. Let Shield One handle the filtering.
PHASE 2: MANUFACTURER SPECIFIC Every brand hides these settings in different places. Find your brand below.
📱 SAMSUNG (OneUI) Samsung puts apps into "Deep Sleep" aggressively.
Go to Settings > Device Care > Battery > Background Usage Limits.
Make sure Shield One is NOT in the "Sleeping apps" or "Deep sleeping apps" list.
Add Shield One to the "Never sleeping apps" list.
📱 XIAOMI / REDMI / POCO This is the most common issue: MIUI prevents apps from starting automatically.
Autostart: Open the system "Security" app > Manage Apps > Permissions > Autostart. Find Shield One and TURN IT ON.
Battery Saver: In Security > Battery > tap the gear icon > App Battery Saver > Shield One > Select "No Restrictions".
Lock in RAM: Open Shield One, then go to your "Recent Apps" screen (swipe up and hold). Long press the Shield One window and tap the Lock icon.
📱 MOTOROLA Recent Motorola phones may require a special data permission to stay alive.
Go to Settings > Apps > Shield One > Mobile Data & Wi-Fi.
Enable "Unrestricted data usage" (even if the app is offline, this signals the OS not to kill it).
Disable Adaptive Battery in Settings > Battery.
📱 OPPO / REALME / ONEPLUS
Go to Settings > Apps > App Management > Shield One > Battery Usage.
Enable all options: "Allow background activity", "Allow auto-launch".
In "Recent Apps", tap the two dots above Shield One and select "Lock".
❓ Common Questions
Does it block WhatsApp or Telegram calls? No. Shield One operates on standard phone calls (GSM/4G/5G). Android does not allow third-party apps to intercept VoIP calls (like WhatsApp, Telegram, or Messenger).
What happens if a friend calls me from abroad? If your friend's number is saved in your Contacts, the call will pass normally and your phone will ring. The block only applies to unknown numbers not in your address book.
What if I'm expecting a call from a specific region (e.g. New York)? No problem. You can add specific Trusted Area Codes (e.g., 212, 917) in the app settings. Calls from these regions will bypass the filters. You can also allow entire countries if you have family abroad.
I missed a call from my doctor/hospital! Medical offices often use automated systems or blocked IDs. To ensure these calls pass, please add your doctor's office numbers to your Contacts.
Can I turn off the notifications? Yes. If you prefer Shield One to work silently, you can disable the "Blocked Call Notifications" in the Settings menu. The filter will still work, but you won't be disturbed by alerts.
Do my old blocked numbers still work? Yes. Shield One works alongside your phone's default blocking system. If you have manually blocked specific numbers in your phone's dialer, those will still be blocked.
💰 Cost & Purchase
Is there a monthly subscription? No. Shield One follows a "Pay Once, Yours Forever" model. There are no hidden fees and no recurring subscriptions.
Can I share it with my family? Yes. Shield One supports Google Play Family Library. You can share your purchase with your family group members without buying it again.
🔒 Privacy & Security
Why does the app need access to my Contacts? This is essential for the "Whitelist" feature. Shield One blocks strangers, but needs to know who your friends are to let them through. The app checks your contacts in real-time only when a call arrives.
Is it true that the app works offline? Yes, 100%. Shield One does not even have the permission to access the Internet. This guarantees your privacy: it is technically impossible for the app to send your data or call logs to anyone—not even to the developer.
