Our 7th Annual Read-A-Thon
From the start of the SCS Library our shelves have been stocked with used books donated by families and staff. Because we are a charter school, our school doesn’t get the same amount of money each year as other public schools. So, our library is completely funded and run by our own families. It has been a wonderful experience growing our library from within.
This year, to keep up with new and current books the kids are asking for, we are so excited to host our 7th annual Read-A-Thon! What is a Read-A-Thon, you ask? It is a FUNdraiser where, instead of selling a product, students get to spend time focused on reading! Students come to school dressed up as their favorite Dr. Suess character, then all come into the gym and read together. Friends and family then have the opportunity to make a flat donation for their efforts.
The Read-A-Thon will take place starting in February. The Read-A-Thon will coincide with honoring Dr. Seuss's birthday.
All proceeds from the Read-A-Thon will go directly to the Library for the purchase of NEW BOOKS, operating costs, and continuing our OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) participation. It’s a win win for the whole school!
We have chosen to use an awesome web-based fundraising system that makes it much easier for you to request pledges from your family and friends and for them to make secure credit card donations online. It's fun, it's easy, and people who use it typically raise twice as much as those who don't!
Thank you in advance for participating in our 7th annual Read-A-Thon. We are very excited to bring in new books for our students and continue our OBOB program!
