Shelton Ranasinghe — Author, Thinker, and Retired Professional Engineer
Shelton Ranasinghe has long been fascinated by philosophy, religion, anthropology, the natural world, and human social behavior. His experiences living and working across five continents over much of his professional life have given him a rare opportunity to observe humanity’s rich diversity of cultures, traditions, beliefs, and ways of life.
Guided by a reflective temperament, an enquiring mind, and a deep appreciation of different perspectives, he has sought to understand the ideas and influences that shape human thought and behavior. His interests extend from the timeless questions of philosophy and the origins of religious beliefs to the workings of the human mind, the nature of our existence, and the possibilities that science offers for understanding our place in the universe.
Now, drawing on a lifetime of professional experience, observation, and reflection, he shares his ideas through books, articles, and videos. Across these different forms of expression, he explores questions concerning humanity, philosophy, science, religion, and the human mind, often challenging conventional assumptions and examining familiar ideas from fresh perspectives.
His aim is not to prescribe what readers or viewers should believe, but to encourage independent thinking, thoughtful inquiry, and a willingness to question established beliefs. He believes that a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us begins when we look beyond inherited assumptions and examine ideas with reason, curiosity, and an open mind.
This website brings together his intellectual journey—a place to discover his books, read his articles, watch his videos, and explore ideas that invite reflection, discussion, and a deeper understanding of life and humanity.
