Winehaven was a winery operated from 1907 until 1919, when it sadly shut down due to prohibition after being declared "the largest winery in the world." It continued to produce sacramental wine until 1941, when the Navy purchased the property and turned it into a fuel depot, carving 20 underground fuel tanks into the property. It served as a fuel supply depot, with a few barracks built to house the men manning the depot, until 1995, when it was decommissioned. The property was handed over to the city of Richmond, and today it stands fenced in and patrolled by security guards.
