This e-Learning module was developed as a prep course for patients considering or preparing for bariatric surgery.  It serves as a comprehensive resource to help individuals understand the lifestyle changes they can expect after surgery, providing key information and tools to support their long-term success.  

The course is designed to not only inform but also engage patients in their learning.  To measure its effectiveness, I apply Kirkpatrick's level 2 (Learning) and level 3 (Behavior) evaluations.  This assesses how well learners understand and retain the material as well as how they apply this knowledge to real-life behaviors.  This ensures the course leads to meaningful changes and greater success post-surgery.

By integrating these evaluation levels, I ensure that the course not only imparts valuable knowledge but also drives lasting, meaningful changes in behavior, helping patients be as successful as possible on their journey.

• Business Problem - Currently, many bariatric patients at Bariatric Associates of Texas struggle to follow their prescribed diets, leading to poor weight loss results and health outcomes. There is a lack of personalized support and insufficient educational resources for patients. This leads them to become dissatisfied with their overall experience and give poor reviews.

• Solution - Bariatric Associates of Texas wants to develop a comprehensive support program designed to improve the success rates of bariatric patients. This would help their patients find success which will lead to more satisfied patients and better reviews.

• Highlights - states, variables, layers, branching scenarios, accordion interactions, custom drag & drop, knowledge checks, and a graded quiz.

• Lessons Learned - 

  • Importance of Visual Design - Consistency in fonts, colors, and navigation elements helps maintain a clean and professional look, so learners can focus on the content without distractions.

  • Testing is Key - Rigorous testing is crucial. Even a small error in the trigger logic can disrupt the learner's experience. Close attention to detail during QA is key!

  • Balanced Media Usage - It's essential to strike a balance between visual appeal and usability. Don't overwhelm learners. Well-placed elements can significantly enhance engagement and learning retention.

This e-Learning module was developed as a training program for employees at an architecture and engineering firm, aimed at improving communication between departments and increasing the efficiency of design document preparation.  

To ensure the effectiveness of the course, I use Kirkpatrick's level 2 (learning) and level 3 (behavior) evaluation models to evaluate how well employees absorb and retain the course content and how well they apply the knowledge gained in the course to do their daily work, particularly in improving interdepartmental communication and streamlining document preparation processes.  These evaluations ensure that the training not only improves employee knowledge but also leads to tangible improvements in workplace behavior and project outcomes. 

• Audience - Project managers and production staff in all disciplines involved in the creation of design documents.

• Business Problem - Production employees are not consulting others involved in the project before agreeing to make changes to a project's design documents. This often results in massive changes for another discipline and leads to issues with time, budget, and multiple redesign issues that have to be addressed. All of this inefficiency and lack of communication reduces the profit made on the project.

• Solution - Design staff and managers will complete an e-Learning course that focuses on enhancing communication between departments.  This enhanced communication will drive better project outcomes, ultimately leading to increased profitability for the firm.
