A lot of parents think of the P.T.O. and immediately say, "I wish I had time to volunteer at school and be a part of the P.T.O." We have to strongly smash that myth! You do not have to volunteer to make a difference at Sheldon Woods. There are many opportunities to help from home and/or only committing an hour of your time a month during a meeting, just when you can. Don't feel like because you couldn't make 6 meetings out of the year that you're not welcome at 3 other meetings. That is not the case, we'd love to have you join us! Meetings are a great way to connect with moms and dads in our community, it's also a great time to bring suggestions or questions, and new ideas! Come when you can, life's busy and we get it!

4. Spread the word. Ask your family and friends to participate in all of the above, create a collection spot at your place of employment to save them.

Every parent at Sheldon Woods Elementary is part of the P.T.O. as soon as you enroll your student. There are no dues or fees that are often associated with a PTA. We operate as a 501(C)3 non-profit organization. We are currently working towards being recognized by the I.R.S. as a 501(C)3. It would open many grants and donations to our P.T.O. It would also give us the benefit of being tax exempt on all of our purchases. Companies making donations to us will be able to claim them as a tax deduction.
Every parent has a voice that matters, our P.T.O. was designed for just that. Board member or not, if you are in attendance at a meeting where there is a vote, your vote counts. Agendas are posted at least three days prior to meetings. All meetings for the 2018-19 school year will be on the 4th Monday of the month at 7PM in the library.
