Hi everyone! My name is Dr. Shelby Bess, and I recently earned my Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Arkansas. I conducted my doctoral research in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Translational Biophotonics and Imaging Laboratory run by Dr. Timothy Muldoon.
My research involved generating multicellular tumor 3D in vitro culture models to study the interactions of cancer cells and macrophages (i.e., metabolic connections, macrophage function, and response to therapeutic regimens).
Over the years, I've been passionate about trends in biomedical engineering and how we as engineers use project management in our daily lives to increase efficiency and productivity, while also using scientific communication and the importance of preventing the spread of medical misinformation, and how data can influence various decisions in the medical field.
