Church progress has been planned using the financial donations received and fundraising efforts over the past year. We are very excited to share that the three areas are being
supported by our committee coordinators this summer. Please note that the church is closed for a few months during the construction of these projects.
Meredith Tassey Verrill - The railings and damaged area over the door are scheduled for the end of May/early June.
Christine Baillargeon, project coordinator: The front of the church will be painted and have a new, fresh look soon! This is scheduled for the end of June or early July.
Kate Landry/project coordinator: Glazing the old historical windows will start in mid-to-late summer.
These three projects total $ 7,800 of donated labor, financial donations received, and our fundraising efforts, all collected in one year. What a true blessing!

The Shelburne Union Church is reopening after being closed for about four years. There will be an open house on Sunday, Aug. 11, from 4-5:30 p.m. with a musical performance by Rising Melodies directed by Sandra Patrick.
Ronald Baillargeon, Shelburne Town selectman and current building inspector, along with Zack Losier Wight inspected the property to ensure that the building was safe to reopen. In the summer of 2023, the roof had a large leak which caused minimal damage to the ceiling but overall the rest of the building was in great shape.
The Shelburne Union Association, a nonprofit committee separate from the church, paid for the roof repairs in 2023 with Judson Roofing getting the job done before any more damage occurred.
The association is currently collecting donations towards other needed repairs and working on re-establishing a full committee of volunteers to support a variety of areas such as repairing the railing boards, painting a portion of the ceiling, building a memorial garden area, putting up a flag pole, making or buying new pew cushions, etc.
In August the Church bells will ring each Sunday in honor of the local military and their families. Notify the church if you would like the bells rung one month in memory or honor of someone special.
All donations received for ringing the bells will support the memorial gardens to be established in the spring of 2025.
Volunteers are needed to help with cleaning, baking, setting up, decorating and fundraising efforts.
Richard Wallingford with Color Works in Gorham supported ideas and quotes for areas that need additional work and upgrades. He, along with church volunteers, believes that the building is worth saving for historical purposes. The new goal will be preserving the church rather than offering church services.
The church will be ready by the fall for weddings and funerals which can be reserved by contacting Kim Landry or Christine Baillargeon.
Donations can be sent to: Shelburne Union Church c/o Kimberly Landry, 41 Grumpy Old Men Road, Shelburne, N.H. 03581.
Volunteers who would like to support any of the projects can contact Christine Baillargeon at (603) 991-2407.
Anyone interested in sharing or being part of the next meeting on Monday, July 29 at 6 p.m. at the Shelburne Town Hall is welcome.
