Desmond is a postdoctoral fellow in clinical psychology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His clinical and research interests center on psychosis, with particular interests in negative symptoms, sociocultural and environmental factors that shape experiences of symptoms and outcomes, and improving mental health care for underserved communities. His clinical work includes both inpatient and outpatient care for individuals with schizophrenia-spectrum and other psychotic disorders. Dr. Spann is also interested in community-engaged approaches to improving understanding of and access to psychosis care.
