Real Life Machine

The function of this machine is to reduce the thickness of a slab of metal. Slabs, primarily steels, are heated to approximately 2300°F (1260°C).

Heating the material softens it as it goes through two horizontal rollers. The desired thickness is achieved gradually with smaller heights being used between the rollers. The rollers on the side maintain a desired width. The slab becomes thinner and longer.
