Dissertation: My dissertation topic is growing and evolving. My research in Special Education will focus on student-athletes, academic support, and load management.
Master's Thesis: My master's research focused on understanding the role of Geography in Disability Studies. In this, I explored the previous research and presented future research frontiers.
Broad Personal Interests: I am interested in research that explores facets of race, ethnicity, and gender within the following areas: music, popular culture, sports, and education.
Urban Renewal in Honolulu (2019-Current): Research was supported by the Roland Kotani Ethnic Studies Scholarship from the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. COVID-19 Feminist Recovery (2020): Research assistant for the Hawaii-Pacific Participatory Feminist, Anti-Racist, and Indigenous-Centered Working Group. This project built an agenda-setting paper for an equitable COVID-19 recovery plan for Hawaii. My role was to collect previous literature and build a literature review of equitable disaster recovery across the Pacific. [PDF]
COVID-19 Higher Ed Retention (2019-2020): Research assistant for Kyle Van Duser, Ph.D. Collecting survey data and building interactive data visuals of COVID-19 impacts on freshman retention. This project examined first-year students' experiences at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and the impact of COVID-19 on student experiences.
Hawaii Short-Term Rental Laws (2019): Research assistant for Mary Mostafanezhad, Ph.D. Collecting survey data and conducting interviews of Hawaii residents in specific areas of Oahu. This project examined the perceptions of the new short-term rental laws on Oahu through a mix of interviews, surveys, and ethnographic research.
