My lowest skill is Directing. The way I want to improve this is by volunteering for a more important role when I'm in a team and helping film without just standing on the side-lines.
Currently my highest skills at the moment are Casting, Camera Skill, Creativity, Sound Skills and Team Work as these are the ones I developed during Year 1 but I do also want to improve these further in Year 2
The skills I want to improve the most are Camera skills and Team Work as they'll be most useful for our upcoming projects. For improving camera skills I want to get to grips on using it more often than I did last year and for team work I want to be more involved with my cast and crew more than year 1.
This will help me by widening my abilities for different departments in film and tv, the department I'm currently most useful in is the Production Design one but I wish to move away from that for a more important role for this year allowing the first years to have an attempt at the design portion of this course.
For the skills that I rated low I would love to develop them as well for year 2 and beyond as I believe developing them as well as the skills I deemed to be my highest is because all the skills are needed even when aiming for one department of Film and TV Production.
During this assignment we have been preparing for University and all the possible courses at each Uni. We've also been looking into everything we need to able to enter University. Below is everything I've done to prepare for the my future in this line of education.
My name is Shayne Ciccone, and I've always been passionate about Film and Tv Production from quite a young age. I am applying to film production at university for my course because I've always been fascinated by the vast world of film and television and how amazing it is with how you can go from a film franchise like Scream to Star Wars in an instant. As a dedicated and motivated individual with a strong interest in film production, I am excited about the opportunity to pursue higher education at University. My journey towards this path has been shaped by my studies at Stockton Riverside College on the film and TV production course. Working in teams, I have been involved in the production of a range of different projects and fulfilled numerous roles. These projects include: the 2024 feature film "Tides" where I took on the role of Costume Designer where I developed my skill of creativity, then I worked on our FMP "Deja Vu" where I was the main Production Designer where I designed the costumes and the sets, I developed Team Work as the people I worked with are some of the best people I've met on this course and we bounce off each other a lot , which have fuelled my ambition to make a meaningful contribution in Film and Tv Production. What excites me about the subject, that is film and tv production, is that I was brought up on films and television so I've always had a deep connection to it and the idea of it has always peaked my interest. My current studies at Stockton Riverside College are very relevant to the course I wish to apply to as it has allowed me to lay the foundations for the next stage of my studies. During December of 2023, I worked an advert for a charity for the homeless called the Moses project with our production company Ufilms just outside of Stockton High Street, and the quality of it was impressive as we were experimenting with new camera equipment we had at the time. The only life experiences that I'd like to talk about are from my time on the course, such as every moment of working on our FMPs during April and May of 2024. Out of all of my achievements on my course, the one I'm most proud of is my FMP called "Deja Vu" which was another member of my courses idea, just so it doesn't sound like I'm taking all the credit for it . The skills I have perfected, if that's the word to describe them, are: camera operating, light operating and production design. For my plans and ambitions for my possible future related to the career choice, I want to eventually work for the BBC and work on one of my favourite Tv Shows, Doctor Who as I've always wanted be apart of it's vast universe in some way either behind the camera or in front of it, as I watched it growing up and still do to this day, I also to wish to be apart of the Star Wars universe as I grew up watching the franchise, and I also want help it recover from all the bad projects it's been suffering with since Disney took over in 2012. I wish to improve my abilities on film and tv and I believe the only way I can is by moving on up from college and into university as it's always been one of my biggest goals in life as university can help me grow independent even further than I already am. Film and television has definitely been a fascination of mine for years, college and hopefully university then inevitably a job related to it can help me explore and improve myself in that world. My time on Stockton Riverside Colleges film and tv production course has helped me develop the skills I need to allow me to continue down this path of filmmaking. In conclusion, I am deeply committed to pursuing Film and Tv Production and believe that university is the ideal place for me to develop my skills and knowledge. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the university's vibrant community and am excited to take the next step toward achieving my long-term goal of being apart of the world of Film and Television.
