Classroom management plan
Strike system
The same policy found in the student handbook will be used.
No profanity
No Bullying
Turn in your work complete
No disruptions
PBIS
The same policy found in the student handbook will be used. Remember: 3 strikes and you’re out.
Turning in papers
Students will turn in their papers using the procedure set by the teacher. Students will pass their papers in a certain way to save time in class.
How to enter the room
Enter the room through the correct door quietly. Pick up a bellringer sheet if you haven’t. Find a direct path to your seat and sit down. Get out materials you need for the day and begin bellringer for the first 5 minutes of class.
Daily bellringers
There will be a daily bellringer on the board everyday. Bellringers are due at the end of the week
Passes
You must have your agenda if you want to leave the room. Agenda costs 5 dollars. Students should not be leaving the classroom a lot. Take care of what you need during the passing period. You must ask and get my signature on your agenda before you leave.
Working in groups
Working in groups promotes collaboration skills that many career paths require. The amount of noise in the room during group work days needs to be at a minimum.
Absent work
Students must collect their work from the days they’re absent. Students can always check the classroom agenda, missing work designated area, and ask me about their missing work. Students can check daily lesson plans on Shawnee website.
Using technology
Chromebooks will be utilized in science and STEM. Students should take very good care of the computers. Students should line up at the computer cart and one by one retrieve a computer. Students should line up and one by one plug their computer back into the charger at the end of class.
Packing up and Exiting the room
Students should not pack up before the lesson is over. The teacher will let students know when the lesson is over and when they can start packing up. Students should exit the room using the proper door.
Need to sharpen your pencil?
Students should raise their hand and use the proper hand gesture indicating they need to sharpen their pencil. I will allow students to trade out their pencil with a sharp one from my collection of pencils. At the end of the hour, they must return my pencil and take back theirs before they leave my class.
Taking attendance
Students should be quiet as they’re working on their bellringers. During this time, Mr. Zoelzer will take attendance. At the beginning of the year, Mr. Zoelzer will call out a student’s name. The student should say “HERE” loudly so I can mark them present or absent. Later in the year after I learn faces, students will not have to say here.
Teacher signals
During class, students will use hand signals to signal if they need something from the teacher.
1- bathroom
2- pencil
3- Drink
4- Tissue
5- Questions
Noise level expectations and stopping work
If it gets too noisy I will say out loud “1-2-3 all eyes on me”. Students should stop what they are doing and listen to directives from the teacher.
Quality of work
Students should make a good effort on their homework. No blank spaces or IDKs
Finishing work early
If students finish work early, the teacher will look at the quality of that student's work. If it does not meet the teachers expectations, then the student will continue working on it. If it does meet the expectations, students may be assigned an enrichment activity.
Eating and drinking in class
No eating in class unless I give you permission. For example, we may have activities and labs that require candy or food that you can eat. Students may drink in class from clear water containers that seal. No foam cups are allowed.
Expectations for subs
When Mr. Zoelzer is out due to illness or other reasons, students should treat the sub with the same respect they treat the original teacher. Subs will update me on any issues they have with any students.
