Culturally Modified Trees

Characteristics of CMTs.pdf

The above pdf document will discuss CMTs in Colorado. The Ute Indian tribes have made it clear that they are the only ones that can interpret or evaluate the trees. Shawnee History has found these trees to be powerful and of great interest. Shawnee History will only attempt to identify possible Culturally Modified Trees with the goal to protect them, keeping their locations private. However, Shawnee History wishes to inform the public that these trees do exist everywhere and that they are a cultural resource worthy of preservation.

Please notify Shawnee History of possible Cultually Modified Trees. Contact us at ShawneeHistory@gmail.com or by post office to Shawnee History, PO Box 151, Shawnee, CO 80475. We will forward your information to the Association of Native American Sacred Trees and Places: https://www.nastap.org/
