Welcome to the 2025–2026 School Year!
Welcome to a new year full of learning, discovery, and inspiration! I’m excited to work with you and get to know your amazing Champions as we begin our journey into Mandarin Chinese language and culture. In our class, we believe that every child can learn and experience success. Through an engaging and supportive environment, we focus on real-life communication in Mandarin, paired with deep cultural exploration. Our lessons are built around the "5 Cs" of world language learning—Communication, Culture, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities—which help students grow not only as language learners but as global citizens. To support diverse learning styles and unlock each student’s potential, our classroom integrates Thinking Maps—visual tools that help students organize ideas, develop critical thinking skills, and make meaningful connections across subjects. Whether we're comparing cultural traditions, sequencing dialogue, or brainstorming project ideas, Thinking Maps help students clarify their thoughts and express them confidently.
We also incorporate Howard Gardner’s 8 Multiple Intelligences to ensure that every student has an opportunity to learn in ways that best suit their strengths—whether that’s through music, movement, logic, social interaction, or hands-on activities. This approach allows us to celebrate and nurture the unique talents of every Champion.
One of the cornerstones of our learning is Project-Based Learning (PBL). Students will collaborate on meaningful projects that connect Mandarin to real-world topics, encouraging creativity, inquiry, and teamwork. These projects allow students to apply their language skills in authentic contexts while building confidence, problem-solving abilities, and cultural perspective.
Throughout the year, students will also develop vital 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, oral communication, and cross-cultural understanding—preparing them for a diverse and interconnected world, future academic success, and global career opportunities.
My teaching philosophy is to inspire, motivate, and encourage. I believe learning should be joyful, purposeful, and student-centered. I’m committed to creating a classroom where every student feels valued, supported, and challenged to do their best.
Let’s make this an unforgettable year of growth and achievement!
