Project: Braille Reader
Reading a book is still a luxury for a visually impaired person. High printing cost of braille books and astronomically high priced e-book readers are the reasons behind this. To solve this challenge team tesseract built a braille reader with a low cost design. Our prototype converts e-books to braille and displays the characters on a mechanical display unit in real time. By using an innovative alternative to available linear actuators, it has been possible to make the model very cost efficient. Using our engineering solution, a braille pdf reader can be made at the printing cost of a single braille book. The project earned the champion title of EIC-2018 at Singapore.
