Who We Are / Our Mission

Sharp Events was founded by Brooklyn native James Ezra, an accomplished pianist, composer, and Berklee College of Music graduate. After more than five years working extensively in the wedding band and private event industry, James saw a recurring gap: musicians were often mismatched to genres outside of party-band settings—classical players asked to perform jazz, rock musicians assigned to subtle cocktail hours, and so on.

Sharp Events was created as a thoughtful alternative to traditional party bands, one rooted in musical integrity and genre fluency. The goal was simple but essential: to match the right musicians to the right styles, ensuring that each performance feels authentic, polished, and musically true to the genre being presented.

At our core, we are a company run by musicians, for musicians. We value artistry, preparation, and professionalism, and we believe that when musicians are respected and properly placed, the result is a more elevated and seamless experience for everyone involved.

Our mission is to provide clients with exceptional, genre-appropriate live music—creating elegant, intentional soundscapes that enhance events without overpowering them.

FAQs

What is your attire?

Our performers are always formally dressed in black.

What types of payments do you accept?

We accept checks, cash, Zelle and Venmo. 

Do you perform outside of New York City?

Yes, we perform all around the Northeast. 

Do you charge a travel fee?

Our only travel fee would be for events outside New York city. The fee is based on mileage from downtown Manhattan. 

What is the required deposit to book services? When are balances due?

Deposits for our contracts are ½ of the total. Deposits are due upon the signing of the contract. All balances are due in full within two weeks prior to your event.

Can I request songs?

Yes! You get a number of free requests for any event. 

What style of music do you play?

We play a wide variety of music including  jazz, easy listening, pop, R&B, classical, holiday music, latin jazz, bolero, and more.
