How it started
Sharp 409A was founded in 2014 by Rajarshi Rakshit (Raj), a 409A Valuation veteran. With his vast and extensive experience in startup 409A Valuation in India and an inclination towards technology, Raj automated most of the 409A valuation process. Sharp 409A Software was hence created to help firms reduce the time and costs of valuation.
Raj has worked with the 409A valuation team at SVB Analytics (now part of Carta). At SVBA, he has designed industry-standard valuation models that have been adopted by major audit firms worldwide. He has also worked for The Brenner Group (now part of Armanino LLP).
Sharp 409A is the first company to provide a unique Microsoft Excel-based exhaustive OPM, PWERM and Hybrid allocation software to perform IRC 409A valuations efficiently with greater accuracy. Initially this software was also licensed to several valuation firms in the US. They used it to perform 409A valuation in India for their clients with minimum effort. During these years, the software has undergone rigorous testing.

Founder and MD
Raj has over 12 years of extensive experience in the field of corporate and private equity valuations. He has valued companies ranging from small start-ups to IPO’s. His valuation expertise includes Purchase Price Allocation, Portfolio valuations, IRC 409As, special situations, distressed debt, and other complex modeling assignments. His training extends to capital markets, fundamental analysis, and portfolio allocation.
Before launching Sharp 409A Software, Raj gathered a wide experience in valuing startups while he worked for EXL Services (EXL). EXL was the offshore partner of SVB Analytics (SVBA) in India. This valuation division of SVBA was then the leading provider of 409a Valuation services in the United States performing thousands of valuations in a year.
Raj holds a Masters in Computer Science from Indian Institutes of Technology, Bombay (IITB), India and has completed advanced coursework from the CFA Institute. At heart, he is a badminton enthusiast and regularly involved in other sports as well.
