Welcome to my professional portfolio. I am Sharmin Aktar, a doctoral candidate pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at the University of New Orleans. My research focuses on cybersecurity, machine learning, and network security.Â
I completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. My undergraduate thesis explored efficient graph coloring algorithms under the guidance of Dr. Sadia Sharmin.
Prior to my PhD program, I gained industry experience as a Software Engineer at System Solutions Development and Technology (SSD-TECH), where I collaborated with telecom operators to deliver technology solutions.
Currently, I conduct research under the supervision of Dr. Abdullah Yasin Nur. My academic work involves developing machine learning models for intrusion detection systems, anomaly detection, and other cybersecurity applications.
In addition to research, I teach core computer science courses at the University of New Orleans. This allows me to share my knowledge and mentor the next generation of computer scientists.
I am eager to apply my background in cybersecurity, machine learning, and communication technology to impactful projects. Please explore my website to learn more about my skills, experience, publications, and academic work. I welcome any collaborations, inquiries, or connections.
