Guitars - Backing VocalsShardana formed in Cagliari in 2008, with the initial intention of creating a metal band with an epic and combative sound, merging heavy and thrash sounds with black and Viking influences, and using both English and Sardinian in their lyrics.
Historically, Shardana was the name of one of the "sea folks" who sailed the Mediterranean in the second millennium BC.
During this initial phase, they released their first eponymous EP in 2010 and "No Cadena, No Presoni, No Spada, No Lei" in 2014, performing at festivals across the island and Italy. Subsequently, the band expanded from four to five members, and sharpening their sound towards death and black metal without losing their melodic elements.
The result was "Milli Annos," released in 2020 on German label Rafchild Records, followed by "The Monarch," released in 2025 on Rude Awakening Records and presented at the Cosmic Void Festival in London in September of that year.
Although not a concept album, the songs on The Monarch speak to the passage of time and humanity's relentless struggle to counteract it.
The Monarch is Time itself, impassive and impervious to any attempt to stop it.
