is currently an Associate Professor with the College of Cyber Security, Jinan University, Guangzhou, China. He serves as the Director of the Laboratory of Quantum and Post-Quantum Cryptography at the same college.
Dr. Lyu was awarded the 2021 CIE Information Theory Society Yong-Star Award. He has served as Organizing Chair, Technical Program Committee (TPC) Member, or Session Chair for flagship conferences including the IEEE Information Theory Workshop (ITW), the International Conference on Information Security and Cryptology (Inscrypt), IEEE GLOBECOM, and IEEE VTC. His recent research interests include lattice codes and cryptography.

July 2025: Our workshop "LatticeCC: Workshop on Lattice Coding and Crypto" has been accepted to be held in conjunction with ASIACRYPT 2025. It will take place on December 8, 2025, at the Woodside Building, Monash University, Clayton Campus, Melbourne, Australia. LatticeCC invites submissions of presentations on topics at the intersection of lattice coding and lattice-based cryptography. Details: https://latticecc-workshop.github.io
June 2025: Our tutorial "Advances of Lattice Coding for Post-Quantum Cryptography" will be presented on September 29 at the 2025 IEEE Information Theory Workshop (ITW) in Sydney, Australia. Details: https://www.ieee-itw2025.org/tutorials-2/
June 2025: Learning Parity with Quantization (LPQ), the sibling of Learning with Quantization (LWQ), is now online: https://eprint.iacr.org/2025/1136. As a competitor to Learning Parity with Noise (LPN), LPQ generates Bernoulli-like noise via code-aided quantization, enabling simultaneous security and compression.
June 2025: Tengjian and Junlong, have graduated with one IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security (top-tier journal) paper and three other conference publications. Wishing them all the best in their future endeavors!
May 2025: Xinquan's paper "Secure Steganography Based on Chaos-Aided Quantization Index Modulation" has been accepted by AsiaCCS, a flagship security conference. See you in Hanoi.
April 2025: Our paper "Construction of Simultaneously Good Polar Codes and Polar Lattices" would be presented at ISIT 2025.
April 2025: We have published a paper of lattice coding for multiuser communications: Tao Yang, Fangtao Yu, Rongke Liu, Shanxiang Lyu, John Thompson: Lattice-Code Multiple Access: Architecture and Efficient Algorithms. IEEE Trans. Veh. Technol. (2025)
March 2025: We have published a paper of secure federated learing: Qing Li, Shanxiang Lyu, Jinming Wen: Optimal Client Selection of Federated Learning Based on Compressed Sensing. IEEE Trans. Inf. Forensics Secur. 20: 1679-1694 (2025)
May 2024: We propose a new computionally hard problem called Learning with Quantizaion (LWQ). All noise contributes to ciphertext compression. https://eprint.iacr.org/2024/714
April 2024: We prove that the optimal quantizer can be designed by polar lattices. https://arxiv.org/abs/2405.04051
April 2024: A few papers on using lattice algorithms and structures for data hiding have been published: i) reversible data hiding by difference contraction: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10247563. ii) attacking spread spectrum data hiding by lattice algorithms: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10534263. iii) robust quantization index modulation: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10356112.
