What to do:

1)  Gather a crew (group of singers, any number) and nominate a shanty leader (the leader for your group).

2)  Choose 2 songs to sing and record.

3) Have all crew members fill in the media permission form (under 16 members must also have a parent or guardian sign this).

4) Your shanty leader fills in the entry form, including a link to your recording(s) by 10pm 1 October, 2026.

5) The judges (a panel consisting of members of the Pōneke Shanty Club) will contact your shanty leader once the winners have been decided.

6) Prizes are sent to a bank account your shanty leader nominates, and your shanty leader is responsible for distributing the prize money amongst your crew and any helpers (e.g. film and editing helpers) fairly.  Prizes are from a grant kindly provided by The Walker Traditional Folk Music Trust.
