Nestled in the heart of Bangladesh, Ishwardi Railway Junction is one of the most vital and historic rail hubs in the country. Established during the British colonial era, it played a key role in connecting East Bengal with the broader railway network of the Indian subcontinent. Strategically located, the junction links the western and northern regions of Bangladesh, serving both freight and passenger trains. Ishwardi became especially significant after the construction of the Hardinge Bridge in 1915, which spans the mighty Padma River. Over the decades, the junction has witnessed the evolution of rail transport in the country—from steam locomotives to modern engines—making it not just a transportation hub, but a living archive of the nation’s railway legacy.
