I am a postdoctoral associate at the Gender and Security Sector (GSS) Lab at Cornell University. I gained my doctoral degree in Political Science and International Affairs and my MS degree in Statistics at the University of Georgia (UGA) in the summer of 2023. Before I started my current job, I was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
I like publishing work that helps human security! My research touches on different topics in government-society interactions in a global context, including dynamics of repression, INGOs' (International Non-Governmental Organizations) accommodation, public opinions, gender, and public health. I rely on various statistical and computational methods to address IR (International Relations) questions. My skill set includes Bayesian models, social network analysis, social experiments, regression modeling, web scraping techniques, sentiment analysis, GIS (Geographic Information System) techniques, etc.
My work has been published or accepted in the Journal of Peace Research, the Journal of Human Rights, and Human Rights Review. My co-authored paper won the Frank J. Klingberg Award for Best Faculty Paper at ISA (the International Studies Association) Midwest 2021. I was the 1st runner-up for the ISA South 2021 Jim Winkates Graduate Student Paper Competition. Currently, I am working on a book under contract with Routledge and an AI application project funded by the UAB CAS Interdisciplinary Seed Grant.
I have taught IR as an Instructor of Record since the spring of 2021 after serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant of POLS 1101 from 2017 to 2019. My teaching efforts have been awarded the 2022 Christopher S. Allen Award for Teaching Excellence, the highest honor given for graduate student teaching within my program.
