My career goal is to become an officer in the U.S. Navy. My dad, who was an Aviation Maintenance Administrationman in the Navy, is the reason. I grew up hearing his Navy stories. I wanted to enlist for a bit, but he steered me towards the officer route, saying it's the better option.
To get ready, I jumped into STEM classes from 4th grade to 9th grade. It seriously boosted my math and science skills. Then, in 9th grade, I joined the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) at Great Mills High. NJROTC is helping me immensely because it is giving me the leadership skills necessary to become an officer in the military. Right now, I'm the Team Captain for the Arlington Junior Rifle Program. Being in charge lets me help out the less experienced members and push them to
get even better than me. This helps me get even more leadership skills, as well as an extra curricular, which looks great to colleges. Plus, I'm all-in with Great Mills High's NJROTC and the Civil Air Patrol, both of which push physical fitness, which is important if I'm joining the Navy. Once I hit my career goal, I'm planning to give back to my community by just being a solid citizen. I'm not planning any massive feats in engineering as of now, but I'm still aiming to make a difference. I'm thinking about volunteering around my community once I'm settled. I'm determined to leave a positive mark on the world.
