I am an English as a Second Language (ESL) educator, academic advisor, student advocate and program coordinator with experience in both international and American K-12 classrooms and higher education.
The focus of my research is on how the utilization of technology-based educational and counseling practices and strategies can help students, specifically high school multilingual learners in ESL, with Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences avoid Social Emotional Learning decline in the classroom. As students are navigating major shifts in learning environments, the use of AI and technology, and the challenge of English language learning, academic success is often the last priority due to unmonitored mental and emotional health combined with personal and familial issues and demands that take precedence over their personal well-being and academic needs.
