Shamgar Espina

I’m Shamgar Espina, a Filipino visual artist, illustrator, and graphic designer based in Quezon City, Philippines. My work spans illustration, graphic design, painting, sculpture, and visual storytelling, with a particular interest in food and everyday life.

Growing up in the city led me to become interested in the ordinary details that can easily be overlooked in the fast pace and repetition of city life. Food became one of my main subjects through my interest in cooking, eating, and the culture and stories surrounding it. I translate these observations into creative content using playful forms, loose drawing, and tactile textures, influenced by the warmth and rawness of vintage book illustration, combined with a relaxed, approachable, and contemporary approach.

I’m interested in applying this visual approach to illustration, graphic design, editorial, publishing, food and lifestyle content, branding, art direction, and other creative projects.
