Currently, I am working on optical vortices which have distinct amplitude and phase behavior near the vortex pivot point and can carry angular momentum. This work is carried out for (6+1) identical cores operating in single-mode with two opposite polarizations. The equations for our system of multicore fibers operating in single-mode supporting two polarizations were modeled using discrete nonlinear Schrodinger equation and Manakov equations. Solution in the form of stable discrete vortices characterized by the topological charge was chosen to find a system of equations analytically. This can be used to find values of field amplitudes and propagation constant in terms of the topological charge. Small perturbation was introduced in the background of the vortex solutions and linear stability analysis was carried out analytically. The resulting system of homogenous equations can be used to find gain spectrum for every solution with different amplitudes and topological charge. Examining the stability of optical vortices and their robustness to withstand instability and distortion may lead to efficient optical power and data transfer. The existence of stable optical vortices in multicore fiber structures may have many potential applications such as coherent light source, optical switches, phase and amplitude modulation. The properties of optical vortices of carrying high power and conserving orbital angular momentum may be exploited to have applications in communication systems and high capacity transmissions.
